Creating My Horror Poster

I will now be starting the process of creating my horror poster. I will be creating 3 draft sketches of my deigns and will upload them to my blogger. I will show some members of my class my deigns and will question them and find out what image they find most affective and why. I will then start to create my poster using Abdobe Photoshop taking their criticisms and ideas into account to ensure my poster is extremely affective and appealing to my audience.

Example Of One Completed Questionnaire

From these questionnaires we gathered lots more information on what our target audience finds effective in horror films. After analysing all the results we found that the majority of people had similar answers. We discovered that scary music and creepy looking characters is what scares them the most in horror films. Also that the setting is very important in how the audience feel throughout the film. Such as dark mysterious places, haunted houses and house in the middle of nowhere. The question ‘do you prefer horror films being based on a true story on fiction’ got mixed reviews, however a larger amount of the answers was ‘fiction’ some people commented that true stories is a lot scarier as they feel it may happen to them so they do prefer to watch fiction films as they know they are safe and it is for enjoyment factors only. We found that a large amount of respondents preferred an unexpected twist, this has given us ideas to use lots of twists and unexpected events in our horror film. All this information has inspired us and given us ideas on the development of our horror film trailer.

Questionnaire On Horror Films

This is an exmple of mine and Hannahs questionnaire on horror films. We sent this out to 15 different people all varying in age and sex. The reason we chose to question different people is so we could gain a wider knowledge and understanding of what peoples likes and dislikes are and so we would be able to create our horror trailor, webpage and film poster to suit a wider target audience. From this we wish to gain ideas on how to make our trailor, webpage and poster most appealing and so more people can enjoy it and find the experience new and exciting.

Planning our film trailor

Hannah and I have created a story board to gather ideas for our film trailer.

We have drawn a rough image of what each shot will consist of and then described, the shot size, shot angel, camera movement, lighting, setting, props, costume and music.

From completing this it has helped finalise what we want to be shown in the trailer and how we will do it.

As our film is set in a large open space field, this is where we are going to make our film trailer to create the full sinister effect. Will our also going to film the trailer in the early evening so it will be dark.

We shall start filming our trailer in a couple of weeks.
